Brave New World 5

What is the mood of this novel?
Do you find this novel saddens you in any way?
Why?

The mood of "Brave New World" is very negative. You can barely find the happy part in the book. It's very miserable, depressing, and sad. In the novel, there are only sad events. There are part when Linda, John's mother dies, when John dies at the end, and also, when Lenina cries because he can't get loved from John. All the people in the New World doesn't have right, they are not free. They have caste system which is very miserable. Low levels, such as delta and Epsilon, they are badly mistreaten. They were born like slaves. But they don't know that they are being mistreaten because they use the drug, soma. They are conditioned to like that. To me, I think the part where John got mad and throws soma rations out of the window, was very depressing part. John doesn't fit in to that New World and can't exist until he gets sends to jail, or island. Living in normal world and move to this New World, where people are born by machines, where people have to eat the drug, and where you have to worship the science with caste system, would be very odd for him. And these events lead him to commit suicide at the end. That is really depressing mood. What a shocking ending!
