A Patch of Old Snowby: Robert Frost
There's a patch of old snow in a corner
That I should have guessed
Was a blow-away paper the rain
Had brought to rest.
It is speckled with grime as if
Small print overspread it,
The news of a day I've forgotten--
If I ever read it.
When I first read it, I didn't really understand what it means. I thought the author was talking about the actual snow which had been dirty. But I asked Mr. Craig and he said it was about a scrumbled paper in the corner that just has been useless, wet and messed up. The author compared crumbled paper and snowball. At last, when the author said that he has forgotten, we can know that the paper contains a lot of important news but is became useless, thrown away in the corner where nobody can see it. I think the theme of this poem is from small things, there always may be something important and worthy.
